29. Tentacled Snake
The snake lives entirely in water in southeastern Asia. You thought tentacles were only for squids and octopuses? You’d be wrong! A snake called the tentacled snake (Erpeton tentaculatum) has its own set of tentacles.
In technical terms, tentacles on snakes are different from jellyfish tentacles. There are two tentacle-like structures on the front of the snake’s face, however.
Researchers aren’t entirely sure how these structures work, but they provide it with some sort of sensory function. Rice paddies, slow-moving streams, and lakes are the most common habitats, but they can also live in brackish or salty water.
Fish are its favorite food and it likes to catch air every 30 minutes or so by coming up to the surface of the water.
