20. Boomslang
Boomslangs (Dispholidus typus) are highly venomous snakes from sub-Saharan Africa that have elegant black and green speckled scales and slender heads.
Generally, boomslangs prefer to live in trees because their green and black scales provide excellent camouflage against predators.
Despite attacks being rare, it has been known to kill people with its venom, which is primarily a hemotoxin. Female boomslangs are oviparous, and they deposit their eggs in hollow tree trunks or rotting logs.
A relatively long incubation period (3 months on average) is required for the eggs. A male hatchling is gray with blue speckles, and a female hatchling is a pale brown. After several years, they reach their adult coloration.
When hatchlings reach a length of about 45 cm (18 inches) and a diameter as thick as the smallest finger on an adult, they are dangerously venomous.
