7. Brazilian Rainbow Boa
This is one of nature’s most beautiful snakes. Its scales are iridescent due to ridges that act like prisms and refract light.
As a result, the boa’s already attractive coloration becomes even more striking. This snake is mostly found in the Amazon Basin and feeds on small rodents and birds, but it may also consume frogs and lizards.
Snakes of this species typically grow to be about 5 feet long, though they may occasionally reach 7 feet. Brazilian rainbow boas are non-venomous like other boas.
They ambush and constrict their prey in order to capture and consume meals. These boas reach sexual maturity when they reach a certain length rather than when they reach a certain age.
