8. Iridescent Shieldtail Snake
Snakes of this species are endemic to India. Only three specimens of this species are known, and not much is known about it in the wild.
In southern India, it is found in Wayanad, part of the Western Ghats. They are said to have very smooth and glossy skin that is highly iridescent and serves to keep debris away when burrowing.
In the rainy season, they become active at night, being fossorial and nocturnal.
