Fact 6: Multi-Headed Snakes Do Not Exist
To maintain the mythological status of the snakes in India, snake charmers spread the myth about the Multi-headed Snakes in order to continue attracting large crowds for their snake shows. There is no such thing as a Two-headed Snake in reality.
As reported by leading Indian Daily newspaper Hindustan Times (Aug 13, 2021 edition,) forest officials in Uttarakhand rescued a rare two-headed cobra from Kalsi forest division of Dehradun district on Thursday.
According to Adil Mirza, who has been rescuing snakes for 15 years and now works for the forest department, the forest department received a call about a small cobra in an industrial unit in Vikas Nagar.
According to Mirza, the cobra is about one and a half feet long and is less than two weeks old. A genetic mutation causes this condition, also known as bicephally. There is very little information about how long these snakes can survive in the wild.
