Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi aka Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday is celebrated in India as Gandhi Jayanti. This holiday is celebrated annually on October 2nd, and it is one of India’s three national holidays.

The UN General Assembly announced on the 15th of June 2007 that it adopted a resolution which declared that the 2nd of October will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence.
