Myth 6: If One Snake Is Killed, The Other Will Track You Down (Regardless Of Where You Are)
Snakes do not form lifelong pairs nor do they have a sense of camaraderie. This myth is once again the result of Bollywood.
Snakes release pheromones when they are killed because they become stressed and release them when they are seeking sex.
Female snakes are excited by these pheromones, and they come looking for the male snake. Either she kills someone or bites someone, which is how people interpreted the snake as retaliating.
Snakes are plentiful in rural India as well, and they are revered by some Hindu cultures. Therefore, this is another probable cause for this myth.
