International Mothers Day: Honour Mothers Around the World

International Mothers Day is a day to honour mothers around the world and it falls on March 31st. The goal of this celebration is to promote peace and gender equality for all women everywhere. In India, we celebrate it on the 2nd Sunday of May.

International Mothers Day was first celebrated in 1914 by Anna Jarvis in West Virginia, US after her mother died.

It has been recognised every year since then as an official holiday by many countries. Mother’s Day is celebrated in India on the second Sunday of May every year, and this year the celebration will fall on May 9, 2021.

International mothers day can be celebrated in several ways: through social media posts, gifting your mom with flowers or chocolates, giving back to your local community or sending cards or letters to your mother.

Doing some donation work for charity is also an option and there are so many ways you can go about celebrating International Mothers Day.

You may wish to send a letter, card or flowers with a postcard from where they live around the world.

Celebrating this day globally will help us all remember how important mothers are in our lives.

In 1958 President Dwight D Eisenhower signed the proclamation that would designate the second Sunday of May as Mother’s Day in the United States of America.

This International Mother’s Day, let’s show our mothers how much we love them by celebrating all across the world!

Following are some tributes send by people to their mothers:

Though we are not a poetry platform but are a motivational platform many submissions have also come in the form of poetry which we have also included as a one time measure to share these beautiful tributes with the world.

Yati Puniya

The person who is most important in my life and means everything to me is my mother. I’ve written something on her to express my feelings though I know whatever I may write I’ll be never able to pour everything out because regardless of how hard I try I can never cover everything. Surely I’ll miss out on something or the other.

To be honest, there are too many lessons she has given me so it will take more than one post for all of them but here is what I can manage in this short blog post:

  • – She taught me how to be a good human being
  • – She taught me how to love myself and never give up on it
  • – She was there in my life from the very start till I stepped out of her house
  • – And she has been with me ever since.

I have loved every moment with her and learned from her. Somehow it’s her unconditional love and support that never ends, so I really do not know how I will be able to cover all that she has ever done for me.

These days somehow it is tragic that some people don’t value their mum’s any longer as soon as they start earning for themselves.

As if this isn’t a tragedy in itself, they also just tag their parents on mother’s day or Father’s day and then forget them for the entire year.

Can the ones who spent their entire life and belongings on your comfort and happiness be forgotten so easily? I think not.

Mom this is for YOU. I have written this poem especially for you and have video taped it for you as a surprise…

Happy mother’s day Maiya and thanks for being my pillar of strength since the day I was born.

Who Is A Complete Woman?

Who is a complete woman?
Who is faithful?
Whose beauty is evergreen?
Whose love is unconditional?
Who makes you safe & secure?

Maa;
Who else can it be!
Maa is complete,
Maa is faithful,
Her love is evergreen,
Her love is only the unconditional
And priceless commodity in the whole world,
Her lap is a haven; safe & secure.

Maa;
She has the key to all my problems,
The only one who loves me a lot but never complains
Never demands anything but always gives
She never wants me to be away from her
Even after blunders, I create
She’s the only one who forgives me so easily,
Without any preconditions
Not even God can grant pardon so easily,
Without compensation.

Maa;
She’s everything,
The only Perfect Creation of God.
Love you a lot Maa…*

Happy mother’s day to the most important person of my life ❤✨

A mother is not just one who gives birth to a baby she is the whole world to the child. The mother is the first teacher, first friend, and the first one to give blessings.

There’s a quote that says:- “God couldn’t be everywhere so he created a mother.”

For me, this is absolutely true because a mother takes care of her child and is always there to protect her child like a soldier protects our country. And she is the only one who loves you the most in this whole world.

We celebrate mother’s day to show our love but to celebrate mother’s day once a year is not enough. Mother’s day should be celebrated every day because the sacrifice our mothers do for us is priceless and we can’t repay it.

Mothers are the ones who make the world easy for us. She is always there to help us out in every situation. Many times we scold our mother when we are not in the mood but she never says anything, we treat her according to our mood but never think what she wants.

There is a lot to say about our mothers because she is everything for us and our world surrounded by our mothers.

So, on this special day, I want to thank my mother for everything you have done for me. I know this word won’t express my feelings for you but I am really thankful to have you my mother. Thank you mom for everything you’ve done for me and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I love you so much Mumma you mean the world to me. You have been a pillar of strength and a source of unending love to me.

You have been my rock when I was weak, you have given so much of yourself without any expectation.

Thank you for all the sacrifices that you made in order to give me every opportunity possible, for your patience as we adjust to our new life together, and for never giving up on us even when we did things that were annoying.

I will always be here for you. I am so grateful to have a mother like you and the work that you do. 😘😘

I want to send a poem as a tribute to my mother who is no more with me.

I don’t know mom how good a daughter I was for you as my life is too busy with distractions- work and other things that kept me from seeing and meeting you more often.

But even though we are apart now, there will always be love between us as long as this world shall live.

You were my pillar of strength and my main source of comfort in times when life seemed too hard to endure. I love you mom, always have, always will!

Mukesh Bhatnagar

The poem was written in 2005 in sweet memory of mother, who expired in 2005 itself, after prolong illness. She remained in  Coma for a year speechless but calm.

It was painful to see her condition and we virtually prayed to God for her salvation. Feelings for a mother’s sacrifice and contribution in upbringing is reflected in the poem. I share those feelings with the world today.

She continues to guide me in my ups & down of life as my guardian angel.

Vanshika Kochhar

International Mothers Day is a day to honor mothers and celebrate their unending love. It also aims to remind people of the great responsibility of motherhood, as well as encourage respect for women in general. So, Mum, thank you for always being right by my side. I don’t know what I’d do without you. I’m so glad you’re my mum.

The best compliment anyone can give me is to say that I’m just like you. I wish I could be as caring and kind and thoughtful.

You’re a great example of the perfect mother, so thank you for what you do. You are an amazing woman!

Sending Mother’s Day wishes today from the luckiest child in the world. You are my everything.

I love you, Mum. I feel so lucky to be your daughter. Here is a little gift for you on this special day: Love and warmth from the bottom of my heart always; happy International Mothers Day!”

Shubham Verma

International Mother's Day: Honour Mothers Around the World
International Mother’s Day: Honour Mothers Around the World

Shubham is a positive person who is positive about every aspect of life. There are many things he likes to do, to see, and to experience. He likes to read, write; think, dream; talk, listen to music.

He likes to feel the breeze on his face, to smell the wind coming from the sky, and feel the music in his veins. He likes to do thought experiments when he cannot sleep in the middle of the night.

He likes to imagine, for example, what the sky would look like if he could see it from the eyes of a shooting star. He doesn’t mind at all that this is impossible; in fact, his thoughts are so clear now they can almost become real and true.

He has an idea of who he wants to be and he knows what is important to him. He doesn’t want an easy life, perfect life, or even the right one – just his own.

He likes listening to music and watching good movies with people who are special in his opinion.

His favourite songs include: “A Whole New World” from Aladdin.

He likes flowers in spring, rain in summer, leaves in autumn, and snow in winter. He likes to sleep early, he likes to get up late; he likes to be alone, he likes to be surrounded by people. He likes the countryside’s peace, he likes the metropolis’ noise; he likes the beautiful west lake in Hangzhou, he likes the flat cornfield in Champaign. He likes to be free, and he likes to have a home.

In this moment of clarity before sleep, his world is perfect. He dedicates the below poem to his mother who he loves the most in his life.

Super Mom

Mom, you’re a wonderful mother,
So gentle, yet so strong.
The many ways you show you care
Always make me feel I belong.

You’re patient when I’m foolish;
You give guidance when I ask;
It seems you can do most anything;
You’re the master of every task.

You’re a dependable source of comfort;
You’re my cushion when I fall.
You help in times of trouble;
You support me whenever I call.

I love you more than you know;
You have my total respect.
If I had my choice of mothers,
You’d be the one I’d select!

The Energetic Girl Akanksha Mendhe

My mother is a walking miracle.” These words said by Leonardo DiCaprio are very true in every sense. Right from the birth of the child and even before, a mother is born.

She not only spends her time to help her child grow but also to educate him and make him a good citizen of the country.

By giving up her dreams, a mother spends her life to fulfill the dreams of others. She adds colors and melody to the life of a child as well as family.

It is said that God can’t be present everywhere and so he created mothers on earth. Mother is not only the epitome of love but also the biggest warrior. She is the one who fights against all the odds to make her child happy.

She is the first teacher, friend, guide, philosopher, and even psychologist for everyone ever born.

Full form of mother:

M – Maker of man
O – Observer of action
T – Teacher of life
H – Healer in pain
E – Internal blessings
R- Remarkable

Thank you mom for giving me a wonderful life and providing every possible help to me in order to raise me up with great values so that we grow up and live a happy life.

Please share this wonderful post with all the mothers of the world so that they know how much their efforts and sacrifices are worth!

Mother’s Day is all about celebrating the woman who raised you and shaped you as a person. From all the packed lunches, to the bandages and kisses after falling off your cycle, to being the first one to cry at your graduation– your mom was/is there for it all. It’s important to thank her for all the love and work she put in through the years for us…

Choosing the perfect gift for your mother is tough. From all of her help and love, it seems like anything would be a let down in comparison to how much she has done. However, you can always make up for that with an emotional message or letter telling her what made her so special and loved over the years- even if just from reading these words she will feel truly appreciated!

I know we can’t even thank her. Nothing can be compared with MOM…

Here is a poem that I have written myself for her on this Mother’s Day. Hope you all like it…

vo jaanatee hai!
kab hame kya zaroorat hai.
vo jaanatee hai!
kab ham pareshaan hai.
vo jaanatee hai!
kee ham kuchh chhupa rahe hai.
vo! vo sab jaanatee hai.
jo koee nahee jaanata.
vo sirph tumhe maanatee hai,
jab koee nahee maanata.

khud bhookha rah ke!
tumhe khilaane vaalee.
khud ro-ro ke!
tumhe hansaane vaalee.
khud jaag-jaag ke!
tumhe sulaane vaalee.
khud tapatee dhoop mein kaam kar ke,
tumhe chhaanv dilaane vaalee.
khud vanchit rah ke!
tumhe har khushee dilaane vaalee.
bina sankoch ke,
sab kaam karane vaalee.

haan!
haan sahee samajhe.
vo maan hai jo sab kar ke bhee kuchh nahin chaahatee.
jo bachchon kee khushee mein hee khush ho jaatee.
jo bachchon ko khila kar hee santusht ho jaatee.

haan!
haan vo maan hai kahalaatee.
jo apane dard ko apanee muskaan mein chhupaatee.
bas hamesha vo ye hee hai chaahatee,
kee tum jeevan bhar bane raho unake saathee.

to milao haath.
karo pran sab milakar aaj!
“nahin chhodenge kabhee bhee apanee maan ka haath,
bane rahenge hamesha unake saath”..

“Mother” a simple and unique word that no one can guess its depth. Often when we say mother, we always remember the person who gave us birth, but this is not the case because I often address my grandmother as my mother. After all, she is no less than a mother to me, but she is more than a mother to me.

I consider myself lucky that I have two mothers. One whom I call mummy (one who give birth to me) and the other whom I call maa ( the one who raised me). Obviously, everyone loves their mother very much, but my case is different, as I love my grandmother more than my mother.

I have such a situation from my childhood till today, that whenever someone asks me whom I want/ love the most in your life, I take my maa (grandmother’s) name, and I also tell everyone that my maa (grandmother) comes first in my life and then the rest of the family.

Even my relationship with her is such that I forget the whole world whenever I am with her, even my family. Sometimes my grandma, in guilt, tells me, that “if you have a little shame left in you, then you call your mother and father,” and in reply, I say I am not missing anyone when I am with you.

Although everyone sings praises for their mothers on Mother’s Day, I am different as I praise my grandma. Everybody says that children are spoiled by living with their grandparents.

Still, I am the opposite because whenever I do not listen to my mother and father, they threaten me by telling me that we will complain about you to your grandparents, so after getting this warning, I improve myself.

Has anyone ever seen any grandparents helping their grandson or granddaughter in completing her graduation? I know the answer is no, but in my case, it has happened as she has helped me in completing my graduation.

Even everyone says that by getting good grades, I have made my grandma proud and repaid everything she has done for me. I must say that if she wasn’t there during my graduation time, then I wouldn’t have completed it.

I had to take Hindi (Hons) due to some circumstances, and my Hindi was not good because I had come from an English medium background. So my grandma was my biggest support in making my notes and helping me prepare for my exams as she has done her schooling in Hindi medium back in 1940s.

My grandma and I have a very strong bond that no one can break, and we both are very good partners in spending time with each other, let it be online tv watching or going out. When we both come together, we both are in our own world.

Lastly, I want to say that I love you very much, Maa. You are my best companion and best friend that I could ever have.

Mothers are always very special for anyone in their life. So was my mother , ” MY AMMA ” who is still the soul of my life. I was her first child after the twelve years of her marriage .

After four years of my birth , my brother , now a veterinary doctor , came into this world . But I was always very special for her . Born in a small village of U . P. where the literacy rate of women was completely nil , it was the effort of my Amma that now I am the highly educated lady of not only my parental village but of my  in- laws village also.

A teacher by profession I have gained a special position in society . I really feel blessed that she, not only was, but still is, my mother . She is my hope and aspiration for my life.

As I sit down to write this, I haven’t the slightest idea on where to start & how to end this.

Circa 2002

A lot has changed since I was a little boy & you were a younger woman. It doesn’t take much for me to remember that some of my happiest memories of my childhood were made with you. I still remember the days when you used to homeschool me back when we lived in Tehran. How you used to wake me up in the morning to teach me for a couple hours, prepare me a snack & then take me for a bicycle run out in the nearby park. I remember it all.

Present day

It’s the year 2021, & the world is celebrating Mother’s day. Both of us are a little older & a little wiser. You have shaped me into the young man that I am today. Sure, we have had our differences over the years, but I would be lying if I said that if given the option, I would have it any other way. I wouldn’t want to change a thing about my life. I may not have been the best son over the years, but you have definitely been an amazing mother to me & for that I am thankful to you.

I love you Mom. Point. Blank. Period.
