A Banana tree is made to get dressed in a sari and bathed in a river like a newly wedded bride, and the process is called “Kola Bou”, where kola means banana and bou means bride. This is used to transfer the energy of Goddess Durga.
Ashtami– 3rd of October 2022
Goddess Durga is worshiped as a young virgin girl during the Kumari Puja ceremony on Ashtami.
Sandhi Puja is an evening ceremony in which we worship Chamunda, the Goddess Durga who killed the buffalo demon Mahisasur.
The Yearly Puja on this day, Victory of Good over Evil, generally takes place at the time when the killing of Mahisasur took place.
Navami – 4th of October 2022
On the final day of the festival, a Maha Aarati is held to mark the conclusion of the event.

On Dashami or Vijaya Dashami, people believe that Maa Durga returns to her husband’s abode, so they move the idols for immersion in the river.
